If It Works, Don't Fix It

Despite the tremendous pressure of our society to make worship and other Christian practices commercial and "consumable", we at First Christian feel that the ancient ways are ancient for good reason. The shape of worship has come down through the ages as Word, Baptism, and Lord's Supper, and that's the way we like to keep it. Each Sunday we gather around scripture and preaching, followed by the invitation to discipleship (our baptismal ministry), and finally to the celebration of the Lord's Supper, the remembrance of Christ's gift of himself for our salvation. We believe that everyone attending worship is a part of worship; worship is not a show for an audience. For this reason, we work hard to include everyone with hymns and songs that are easy to sing, and an order of service that is recognizable to as many Christians as we can make it.
